Biography

Dr. Elftman teaches immunology, microbiology, and infectious disease to dental students, dental hygiene students, and dental residents. He is also a co-course director for the dental rounds II course for fourth-year dental students. He maintains a research program focused on mechanisms of norovirus pathogenesis. Some of his most recent publications have appeared in Journal of Immunology and Journal of General Virology. Dr. Elftman received his B.S. from Michigan State University and his Ph.D. from The Pennsylvania State University. He joined the University of Detroit Mercy in 2012.
